TWAS November 2

Hello Everyone,

I'm thinking that you all are very ready for this weekend.  It has been such an exciting week and there are also so many cold bugs flying around that I know these little ones are ready for a rest.  That said, I was so impressed with everyone's performance at school this week especially given all of the excitement!

There were a lot of halloween themed activities happening.  The children brought home their own word search creations, we created q-tip skeletons with our kindie buddies, in class we created spider make-10 math (picture below) and wrote some excellent descriptive writing.  The children described their costumes in writing, and then we had to guess who wrote what based on the writing.  Everyone described their outfit well enough that we guessed each one correctly.  Way to go writers!

Additionally in language arts we are composing a variety of reflections that look at "All About Me." The children wrote beautiful poems that accompanied black and white Zenn-doodle accented pictures of each of them.  They look amazing but because they are pictures of the children I can't post them to the blog so if you have time stop in and check out the bulletin by our shoes. It's totally worth the visit.

We also completed 2 more science magnet stations and learned about magnetic field, what types of items are magnetic and poles.

We are beginning our Remembrance day discussions, literature studies and art.  We tea-stained Flanders field poems that we will be adding water coloured poppies to, and began to create our beautiful egg carton/cup/tissue paper poppies for our wreath.

Our Remembrance Day ceremony is on Friday and children who Brownies/Guides/Scouts/beavers are encouraged to wear their uniforms.

Also exciting in our grade 2 world is that it is our turn to have our Cranston math specialist (Ms. Patton) come and join our class for some targeted math work.  We are lucky enough to have her with us until Winter Break. Ms. Patton will be with us from 1:30 - 2:15 in the afternoons, so there will be some shifts in our schedule to accommodate this change.

I hope everyone has a cozy and restful weekend,

See you on Monday 73!

Kim
