TWAS March 8
Hello Everyone,
It was lovely to see some of you at literacy night and for those who weren't able to make it, I've inserted a couple of literacy poster ideas; one of which explains in a little more detail the family mail centers that the students brought home today!
Just a reminder that swimming is Monday for us. It is easiest if your child wears his/her swimsuit under his/her clothes and then brings under-clothing in a plastic bag that can later be used for wet swimsuits and towels.
Today we enjoyed winter sports day, thanks so much parent council for the hot chocolate treat. The children opted out of quotes today. They really wanted to finish up some art projects (pictures below), and have fun with some Jeopardy science/socials review. They did write beautiful TWAS letters though so enjoy!
Here's a quick summary of this week's activities:
Math: Geometry/Geometry stations.

Thanks also everyone who is finding some extra time at home to practice those basic math facts. The children love watching their graphs go up and up each week!
Science: Boats and Buoyancy
- Sink the cork using select supplies.
- Try a second 'sinking' plan.
Socials: Traditional and modern arctic homes and clothing.
Language Arts: We began story writing. Our focus this week is introductions, so we brainstormed, planned and developed characters and setting and put together some beautiful story introductions. We also began a Collaborative 73 story. Here's what the students created so far:
Once Upon a time there was a
happy and really brave creature named Dell! Dell was also incredibly beautiful.
For starters, she was all purple and pink, except for her black hair. She
always wore her favourite pink dress. Her loving kind eyes are teal
blue and her dark brown eyebrows always smiled.
Dell lives on Planet Zorb. You’ve never heard of this ginormous
planet because it is magically hidden in a black hole so that no one in any
galaxy will ever find it! Planet Zorb is an awesome place to live, most especially
because all creatures are nocturnal! Planet Zorb has the craziest swimming
pools you ever did see! The water is purple and so super clean that it even
cleans itself. Some pools even have crazy blue waterslides that are up to 4000
meters high. They whirl and twirl and take you to cool random places!!! So . .
. you would think that Dell would love swimming.
To be continued . . .
Art: Final touches on our Ted Harrison art, zodiac 'guess my animal clue writing' and family mail centers.
