TWAS May 10th

Hello Everyone,

I hope your week's are all going well and you are looking forward to a beautiful Mother's Day weekend.  I know your little ones are very excited for the 'big day!'

The last couple of days have been so beautiful; it's been wonderful to enjoy more time outside. We've been able to do some math and all of our gym out of the classroom; we also enjoyed a lunchtime picnic on Thursday.  It's been wonderful!  Hopefully the forecasted weekend warmth will get more little critters out and about so we can do some outdoor science exploration next week.  We did learn about the butterfly cycles, this week, and our classroom butterflies are supposed to be arriving on Monday.  We're very excited about that.

Socials: We are looking at industry in Nova Scotia, in addition to learning about some Nova Scotia traditions and history.  We will continue to look at the fishing industry next week and our Artfelt art is also lighthouse based, which will be so fun.

Math:  We have been continuing with measurement, mental math work and enjoyed some 'would you rather' math problems such as the following:

Would you rather have 2 treats on Monday, Wednesday and Friday OR one treat each day of the week? Please explain your reason.

Language Arts:  We continued to work on our theatre boxes, "special writing" and some reflective writing, in addition to our daily 5 stations.

Our grade 2 little buddies taught us about gardening and we got to experience gardening success and failures on a cool website with our buddies.

One of us also brought a very beautiful flower addition into our classroom early in the week.  We've been loving these beautiful tulips, and are so enjoying the experience of observing their daily changes.  We decided to finish our Friday off capturing their beauty.  Please enjoy a picture of the students' beautiful artistic representation of 'Haddon's Flowers," and have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Mrs. McArthur
